My Work
I'm a leader and technologist. I build support and operations teams at startups.
I've built organizations for three companies: AppNexus, Cockroach Labs, and Paxos. These companies are in completely different industries but have one thing in common: they provide infrastructure. I like working on things that are both hard and mission-critical.
I've built organizations from the ground up (as in: I was the first support employee, built all process, and hired everyone). I've also directed mature global teams of over 40 people.
I speak both Sales and Engineer. I can work with a CEO, CTO, or CRO and remain credible with individual engineers.
My Interests
My personal and professional interests tend to overlap: I like to build and fix things. I live in an old house, so spend a lot of time on DIY projects and renovation. I'm a woodworker and restore tools.
I care a lot about learning and preserving skills. I'm particularly interested in handcraft, and working with Japanese hand tools.
I also run a coffee company with my brother, North Country Roasters.
My Life
I have two daughters, a flawless wife, three cats, and a dog. I live on a hill where I can watch sunsets and grow things, and still get to NYC if I need to.
